About

Fred Gladney has spent his career in rooms where the decisions actually mattered — as an operator, a founder, and, for the past two decades, as the person leaders call when they need someone who won't just agree with them.

He's an Executive Strategist, Leadership Mentor, and the author of The DNA of Success.

The Career

Fred's path started inside corporate America, not around it. He was a Marketing Representative at IBM, then moved into General Management at Compaq (later acquired by Hewlett-Packard), where he held P&L responsibility for a $110 million technology-services business. He later served as Senior Vice President, North America for Development Dimensions International, leading an $80 million division.

Eventually, Fred went out on his own. He founded and ran Trinity Consulting, a software-development firm whose clients included General Motors, ARCO, and several major Southern California counties. Since then, he's stepped into interim executive and CEO roles across technology, human capital, construction, and healthcare organizations.

Today, through The Gladney Group, Fred works selectively with CEOs, senior executives, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders — bringing candid counsel, strategic clarity, and practical accountability to people who already know how to work hard, and need someone who can help them see clearly.

He describes his own approach simply: a driver with a heart. He expects results. He doesn't lose sight of the people responsible for producing them.

Credentials

Fred holds a B.S. from PennWest University, where he delivered the 2010 commencement address and received the university's Professional Excellence Award in 2011. He has also participated in executive-development programs at Harvard and Princeton.

He has served as Board Chairman of FEBC and on the boards of Open Doors USA, Orangewood Children's Foundation, and Mariners Church, and has been part of Biola University's Crowell School of Business Mentorship Program.

Beyond the Office

Fred's understanding of leadership didn't come only from boardrooms. It also came from seasons most bios leave out — homelessness, bankruptcy, divorce, and a diagnosis of cancer. Rebuilding through those seasons shaped how he thinks about resilience, potential, and what it actually takes to begin again — lessons he now brings into every coaching relationship.

He and his wife, Julie, have been married for decades and have built a life around faith, family, and service. Fred's Christian faith is foundational to how he leads — not a separate compartment from his work, but the thing underneath it. He and Julie have spent years in missions work, marriage enrichment ministry, and Bible teaching, and Fred has mentored Christian business leaders for much of his career.

One relationship stands out: for about three years, Fred mentored a foster child connected through Orangewood Children's Foundation — a commitment that reflects the same conviction driving his coaching work: that people become more when someone invests in who they can be, not just where they are.

Fred and Julie have traveled to more than 60 countries together.
